StuCo Support for Med 1s

Introduction to Transition Supports

The transition to medical school represents a pivotal and challenging phase for new students. The Student Council's support system aims to ease this transition by providing resources and fostering a sense of community, ensuring students are well-prepared and supported from their first day.

M1 Guidebook with Hindsight

Incorporating advice and insights from current and former M1 students, we aim to provide incoming M1s with an invaluable resource. This will involve collecting feedback, updating the M1 Guide while collaborating with the student group “Hindsight”, and distributing it to new students electronically during orientation.

Social Media Groups for Incoming M1s

Establishing platforms for incoming M1s to connect and support each other is crucial. We will create a Facebook group, an M1 GroupMe, and a Slack channel, promoting these platforms through acceptance packets and email communications.

Housing Scramble

To assist incoming students in finding suitable housing, we will organize a Housing Scramble in December. This event will be publicized through various channels and is designed to connect students with available housing options, including roommates and rentals offered by current students.

Google Drive Collaboration

To facilitate access to key medical study resources at reduced costs, we will negotiate group discounts for Pathoma, SketchyMedical, Boards and Beyond, and Pixorize. These discount codes and purchasing instructions will be shared with incoming students through email and social media platforms.
