Student Organization Support Services

Student Council Funding for Student Organizations

  • Student Organizations within the COM may apply for funding from Student Council for events throughout the year

  • Funds in the past have been used for speaker fees, food, suturing supplies and other consumable items at meetings and workshops

  • Funds will be given via reimbursement, however prior approval is recommended through the form below to ensure items are appropriate for reimbursement

  • Funds are currently limited to $200.00 per organization per year, subject to increase based on volume + fundraising initiatives

  • **Requests for reimbursement for items that can be obtained from the Ohio State Resource Room will not be approved

Funding will reset on May 31st each year. Reimbursement for funding after this date might not be processed until August when the next years funding is received. Although we are supposed to receive the operating funds in July, sometimes that doesn't happened and reimbursements will be delayed until those funds are disbursed.

Other Funding Sources

More information on funding and student org support can be found on vitals under the student life tab for current students.

Main Campus at Ohio State

There are many funding options from main campus, which can include operating funds, programming funds, and a resource room line-of-credit. There are also no-cost rentals of things like a bean bag toss, popcorn machine, etc. The resource room line-of-credit allows you to get a trifold, prints, posters, buttons, folders, balloons, etc. Check out these links for more information.

COM Student Life Sponsorships for Medical Student Activities!

This is an opportunity for medical student organizations or individuals in the MD program to apply for funds to support programs, activities and events for medical students. COM Student Life (COM-SL) Sponsorships provide initial and supplemental funding for medical student events and activities. A sponsorship is not intended to be the primary source of funding for an event. Medical student organizations should first make a good faith effort to utilize other funding sources, such as OSU Student Activities CSA Funds and COM Student Council funding. Files with more information can be accessed on Vitals under the Student Life tab.

Funding: Funding is available on a first come, first serve basis across three funding cycles.

  •  Fall: August – December

  • Spring: January – May

  • Summer: June – July

Funding can be accessed as a reimbursement to the individual/organization OR the college can make the purchase on behalf of the individual/organization. Requests can be submitted at any point during the year, we encourage requests to be well thought out and planned for in advance. There are no specific due dates because we recognize that requests can also be submitted in response to an urgent need within our community. Requests are approved for funds available for the cycle in which the event will occur. For example, a submission can be completed in October for an event in March, the funds will be awarded from the Spring cycle.

Audits: All approved requests must complete an audit for the program, activity, event that received COM-SL Sponsorship funds. This is to provide you a space to reflect on what was hosted, and share with us how funds were spent. Audits must be submitted within 45 days of the scheduled program date. Failure to complete the audit process can disqualify you/your organization from COM-SL Sponsorship funding for the next 3 funding cycles. An Event Expense Breakdown spreadsheet is available for successful completion of the audit. All costs reported on this file should accurately reflect all copies of receipts submitted.
